Please bring a percussion instrument, if you don’t have one we are providing some. Come join us for a very special celebration with Cacao on winter solstice. We will have a burning ceremony and torch procession, story, meditation, and drumming. All cultures throughout the world celebrate this cosmic event where we experience the longest night of the year. After there will be food and drinks afterwards and time to celebrate.
The word “solstice” is derived from the Latin words “sol” (sun) and “sistere” (to stand). Winter solstice is also known as “The Day the Sun Stands Still.” Cultural traditions from around the Northern Hemisphere have long told fireside stories about mythical monsters who steal the sun, play tricks on or try to eat hapless humans in the darkness. But sometimes solstice stories are about kinder beings who help us through the leanest time of year, too. Come join us as we celebrate cacao and share stories from around the world. This ceremony is indigenous lead, Theresa Goodman has been leading Cacao ceremonies for five years in the Kc community and is a lineage medicine keeper, her mother was a curandera and she follows in the same path.
